Work & Study program in Canada: Lesly’s experience

Our student Lesly went on a language study trip to Vancouver. We met up with her to hear about her experience in the city, the study program she chose and how she lives her experience abroad. Discover her story now.

“I arrived in Vancouver at the end of June 2024, and I have to say I fell in love with the city. Vancouver is simply beautiful, surrounded by nature with many places to explore. The city offers an exceptional living environment that allows me to make the most of my stay.”

During her stay, Lesly took English courses at our partner school ILAC. This language school operates in Toronto and Vancouver. It offers a wide range of Work + Study programs, as well as classic language stays.

“I’m taking the Communication and Service Essentials Diploma with Co-op program. I have 3 hours of classes a day, which is perfect for me. This leaves me enough time to work on the side and finance my trip. The teachers are extremely pedagogical and caring, which makes me feel at ease despite the language barrier. Thanks to their support, I was able to integrate easily and make progress in English. One of the things I particularly appreciate about the school is the cultural diversity among the students. It’s an incredible opportunity to meet people from all over the world, exchange ideas about our cultures, and progress together in English.”

For all our students, we offer suitable residences, whenever possible just a few minutes from the language school. Lesly, explains:

“Concerning my accommodation, I live at the GEC King Edward, a student residence. My two roommates are Japanese, and we get on very well, which makes the experience even more enriching.”
