English Courses
The General English course at ELC Brighton is designed to give you the confidence to communicate effectively in real-life situations.
The course provides effective English language training for people who need English for work, further study, travel/tourism or for your own pleasure. In addition, it can help provide preparation for a number of exams including IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, KET and PET.
The English for Work afternoon elective is designed to introduce English used in everyday office situations and in routine communication between companies. This elective is ideal for students with little or no experience of using English for work.
The TOEIC preparation afternoon elective is designed to provide complete and thorough preparation for the TOEIC listening and reading exam papers.
The IELTS exam preparation course at ELC Brighton is designed to give you complete and careful preparation for all aspects of the academic module of IELTS.
It is an intensive 4-week course – you study Monday – Friday, mornings and afternoons, with the academic IELTS exam on the Saturday after the course. Your teachers will be experienced in teaching IELTS preparation courses. Some of them are also IELTS examiners.
The Cambridge B2 First (FCE) Examination course at ELC Brighton is designed to improve your overall language ability in addition to developing the language skills necessary to pass the Cambridge B2 First (FCE) exam. The course provides complete and careful preparation for all aspects of the examination.

The 50+ course is specifically designed for over 50s who wish to combine practising their English at a language school with an extensive programme of visits, activities and excursions in the company of like-minded people from around the world.
This Summer Vacation course at ELC Eastbourne is designed for young adults aged 16 – 22 who want to combine English language study with a programme of social activities. It is available between June and August.
There is a structured programme of language study which covers the four skills; speaking, listening, reading and writing. The main emphasis is on developing your confidence and fluency to communicate outside the classroom.
Accommodation
Living in homestay accommodation provides you with the opportunity to experience English life and to practise using your English in everyday situations. All our homestays are carefully selected by our Accommodation Department who understand the needs of students from other countries.
If you are aged 18 or over and prefer the freedom and flexibility of self-catering accommodation, we can offer an ultra-modern residence with ensuite facilities about 10 minutes’ walk from ELC.
